Invention process

When we started the enterprise topic we talked about prams. Then we started designing our own inventions. Kahu and I thought up of the Roller Brushes!A pair of shoes that allow you to skate while cleaning.

Afterwards Dad and I had a shoe then we added a brush and 2 wheels, then we got all the other parts for another Roller brush. Sorry I can't add a diagram to this page, any ways, back to the contrary. Then the next day at school Kahu and I gave Mr Eeds (the maintenance man) the compartments to make the other roller brush. That's how we got the ROLLER BRUSHES PROTOTYPE !

The next day we had Class DRAGON'S DEN, the dragons were Mrs K and Izzie. Only Oscar and Matthew, Samara and Sophie and Daniel went into the finals. For the finals, the finalists from Room 2 (my class), Room 4 and Room 7 preformed in front of the dragons.

Here is a dragons den video

My most enjoyable part was: making the prototype at home because I liked using different tools.

The hardest part was: figuring out the script because I couldn't find the right words to use.
If I was to do this again I would: Make a more high-quality prototype so people get a better Idea of the invention.

I have learned how to: figure out outgoing costs.

The most scariest moment: preforming in the class dragons den because we weren't ready enough.

The most boring part: was figuring out the outgoing costs.

The most embarrassing part: nothing.

How did you feel when talking to the Dragons: nervous because we hadn't shown anything to the class before.

The most breathtaking moment: preforming in front of the dragons because the rest of the kids were there too.

The most messiest part: nothing.

Pram results

At school we made a pram questionnaire in groups I was with Kahu,  so we all had to ask the parents about their prams using our questionnaire. Here are our questions we used for the parents. And here are the results of the 6 parents we asked. It tells us that Our pram must have brakes, a toddler seat , rubber wheels and a sunshade

scatter plot

Today at school we all made scatter plot graph about our paper planes. We all had to have an assertion, me and Jaylen's was the higher the velocity the further the distance. We have plane 1, plane 2 and plane 3. here it is.

<-

the y-axis( the left line with the numbers)
represents the distance of metres that the plane flew.
the x-axis (the bottom line with the decimals) represents the time of how we threw the plane.
if you want to make your own scatter plot click here.

Pangram

Today we learned what a Pangram is. If you don't know what a Pangram is its 1 or 2 sentences that has all the letters of the alphabet.

For example: the quick brown Fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Today we need to make a Pangram on our blogs so here it is.

I said to the silver gargoyle on the wobbly boat "hello jolly man" and he said "zip zap boom fly on the xylophone kick" as he was very dumb and could only count to three and didn't know who the queen was.

Good try Devan - tryicky stuff Mrs K

Trip to Corban's Art centre

Today at 9:00 room 2 ( My class) and room 3 went on a trip to Corban's Art centre in Henderson. There we met Andrew Hall, He made some amazing artwork. When I say artwork I don't mean painting I mean this. Look at the pictures. That's right, he makes awesome creations out of what we would call Rubbish/junk. We all got to make our own cool creations too.

RAP-unzel

Today 3 adults named Ben, Jane and Jack came to our school for a show called: RAP-unzel. Jack changed into other characters and so did Ben, such as Jack, Aladdin a weird hobo guy and more. Jack stayed as simon cow ( not cowl! ) And Ben stayed a Fresh prince rupee. Jane stayed as RAP-unzel most of the time. I enjoyed the part where Fresh Prince Rupee rapped a cool song and made us help him, it was really awesome.

Our Wearable Arts journey

Monday- 9 am: today we are going to (look below)

my group is Kahu and Jaylen.
Afternoon- today we achieved the flames on the bodess,
we only need to paint them.
I found out that on the shoulders we could put on twisted egg cartons.
I wondered what materials we could use for the legs.
The most challenging part was glueing both shoulder pad parts together.
Now we need to paint everything.
tomorrow we will start on the legs.
the most fun part was wearing the costume.

Tuesday.
this is how my outfit looks so far

Today I need to work on
  • The amount of flames on my shirt.
  • The pants for my outfit.
  • the toothpicks on my shirt
  • making the pants look ripped.
Wednesday

Yesterday we completed the toothpicks, the pants and put red paper on it and the flames, we only need to paint them.
We had difficulty with finding hot glue guns.We found out that the red paper was on the wrong side of the pants.
working in a group is good because working together gets it done faster. Our outfit reflects on the element fire because of the fact it has flames and its red. Torbay learning model helps us by telling us we should plan before we do our projects.
Thursday
overall I feel good about my great about our outfit.
the biggest success was the flames on the T-shirt.The most enjoyable part was making it D.I.Y style. The hardest part was using the hot glue gun because the glue usually broke. If I was to do this again I would change the pants design because it looks too short. I have learnt how to use a hot glue gun properly.

This is the finished product.

Tread lightly caravan

At school the people of the tread lightly caravan came to our school. [because we are learning about sustainability] they had a lot of activities for us to do, there was the power bike, solar power, waste, gecko's and vines and the micro scope. I found out a lot of details about bugs [on their bodies] on the micro scope. It was really cool to see how long a grass hoppers legs look like. on the power bike you have to ride one of those fitness bikes to power something.  either a eco bulb or a kettle and many other electronics.

ALBANY SENIOR HIGH!

Today we went to ALBANY SENIOR HIGH!!!!!!!! we went there for a trip and there was such cool stuff that we made and got to take home! We made hover crafts out of a disc bottle lid and a balloon , we made goo out of corn flower and water. We also got to touch a sheep's insides with gloves on.

squash

At school we did squash, it is so fun! I am quite good at it.

but if if I hit it against the wall I ain't that good.
Our squash teacher was Tessa.

It was really fun. I bet Mrs kilkolly by doing a AWESOME slide. I'm going to try doing squash lessons out of school.

music with mrs mchugh

At school every week we would have a music lesson. Mrs Mchugh would teach us.

Our learning was about different maouri songs such as: tutira mia nga iwi. I found out that some maouri songs are about teamwork and friendship.

The most difficult part was learning a bunch of maouri songs. Now I know how to sing some of maouri songs.

My next step is to use my te rakau sticks more. The most fun part was using a lot of instruments.

lactic turkey

LACTIC TURKEY!

this is me and my friend jason on the left part of the backround.

At school room 2 (my class) room 4 and room 7 participated in a event called: LACTIC TURKEY!

Lactic turkey is like the amazing race, you have 2 hours to do a bunch of activities.
But the activities in the lactic turkey is all
about sustainability.

I liked: doing most of the activities, and finding all the clues with my group.

I didn't like: falling on my butt on a wet tree root, walking EVERYWHERE! And how it rained all the time.

but without all of the bad stuff everything was fine.

Capacity

We were learning about capacity. Capacity is the weight that something holds.

I wondered if we had to test capacity on things.
I found out that you need to combine other measures together to find out the answer.

It was tricky to keep the measuring cups from spilling.

I enjoyed figuring out every measure on each object.

I didn't enjoy getting such hard objects to measure.

here is a padlet.

rainbow poem

I am red. as red as red as a lion pouncing on his prey.

I am orange. as orange as a left out bee with no pollen to lick.

I am yellow. as yellow as a spectator supporting the blues.

I am green. as green as a boy who finished a maths in 2:00 mins.

I am blue. as blue as a rugby player who won a match against the all blacks.

I am purple. as purple as a boy who's cat won't stop meowing for food.

A device that helps

I,m creating a device that helps blind people see [I'm not actually making one] It helps by sticking a circle shaped device around your eyes.when it gets stuck on ,tiny little drills drill into your head and
it makes you see a little bit.

it helps you see main things [like really big things] but not detailed things. I'M CALLING IT THE
VISION IMPLANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cochlear implants

A cochlear implant is a device in your head that helps people with growing deafness to hear. If you get a cochlear implant when your fully deaf you get to hear some sounds.

You need a operation to get the cochlear implant. The doctors drill the cochlear implant in your head and it might not even work!

If you can lip-read REALLY good, don't bother getting a cochlear implant.

today we have been learning about sustainability. it means to maintain the quality of the earth.
here is an example of how our world will get worse if we don't help the enviroment.
